FLORIAN SCHMID: STITCHING CONCRETE- STOOL A.

refugium FLORIAN SCHMID- STITCHING CONCRETE- STOOL A.

Florian Schmid’s Stitching Concrete project was inspired by the contrasts within Concrete Canvas, a material that combines textile with concrete. Apart from 3 types of stools, it also includes a bench and a chair. The seating elements are created by folding fabric that is impregnated with cement and then drenched in water to harden. The canvas consists of a layer of cement sandwiched between fabric and a PVC backing. Once soaked it can be manipulated for a few hours before hardening. A wooden mold supports it while drying. The German designer Florian Schmid graduated in 2011 from the Munich University of Applied Sciences and founded immediately after his own studio. (mb) http://www.florian-schmid.com/
