FELIX KLINGMÜLLER: STEIN

refugium FELIX KLINGMÜLLER- STEIN

Molds for glassblowing always leave marks and imperfections in the blown pieces. Felix Klingmüller of the Cologne and Munich based design duo Guderian und Klingmüller took this problem as a starting point, trying to find a way to use these ‘imperfections’ as an aesthetic characteristic, and to turn the problem into a solution. In front of the workshop of glassblower Matteo Gonet, Klingmüller collected some stones and bricks, which he arranged spontaneously as a mold. The marks they left in the glass gave each piece a unique impression, manifesting its production process and alluding to the environment of the workshop. Stein was first presented within the Lausanne based Swiss design school ECAL’s ‘Hot Tools’ exhibition during the 2012 furniture fair in Milan. http://guderianundklingmueller.de/
