ANNA BADUR: WHERE WE REST

refugium ANNA BADUR- WHERE WE REST

Almost nothing is as moving as the encounter with death. Still the burial is mostly very standardized, being subject to numerous restrictions. In what she describes as an effort to make the experience more personal, and the graveyard more homely,
Berlin- and Braunschweig- based German designer Anna Badur created this series of urns from the typical local Limburgian soil called Löss, so that ‘after the burial the urns become one with the surrounding earth and part of the circle of life and death.’ The stickiness of Löss allows to shape objects by using a press-mold, while after drying out the urns become compact and strong so they don‘t have to be fired. Anna Badur graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven, department for Contextual Design Master, in 2012 and works as an independent Designer. She currently also works as an assistant department for Industrial Design of the Braunschweig University of Arts. (mb) http://www.annabadur.de/
