The designer as a magician and trickster: Rope Trick is a family of LED lamps for domestic and contract use, designed by Munich-based Srefan Diez studio. The first offspring to go into production is a floor lamp, issued by the new Danish-British label WRONG for HAY, a collaboration between HAY from Copenhagen and Sebastian Wrong from London. An extruded and textile covered plastic profile carries the LED head, and moving the head along this profile changes the light’s orientation continuously. After sliding the head in its up-most position, the light is casted upwards onto the wall or ceiling, creating an indirect atmospheric illumination. Rope Trick Floor lamp is powered by a dimmable, 11W/1080 lumen LED chip and will be available from 2014 onwards for about 340€. (mb) www.wrongforhay.com
