SIGGI EGGERTSSON: SKVIS

For his latest exhibition at Spark Design Space in Reykjavik, Iceland, Berlin-based Icelandic graphic designer Siggi Eggertsson created a set of eight posters in his signature pixelated language that fit together in different ways to form a seamless, modular and patterned wallpaper that covers the whole interior, from top to floor. At first sight the brightly-colored patterning seems abstract, but on closer inspection and in an approach typical of the Icelandic vision in which everything is animated by ghosts, the geometric mixture and grid of curved and straight lines reveals images of fantasy ‘skvís’, the Icelandic term for a young, pretty and smart girl. Through November 16. (mb)http://www.siggieggertsson.com/Skvis
