SOON AT THE REFUGIUM :: TINA ROEDER: BLUE LEATHER SHELF, 106 hours of craftsmanship
A unique piece of furniture created for Thomas Erber’s Cabinet de Curiositiésat Andreas Murkudis, and an extended version of the skintone leather shelf.. The color blue was chosen since blue is considered tobe the furthest away from skin tone, as used in blue screen projection. In line with earlier designs by Roeder the pieceis inspired by architecture and its underlying societal and aesthetical structures, taking localinspiration from the architectural history of Berlin, and particularly Karl-Marx-Alleeand the Hansaviertel, rich in visions and utopias. Mantled with blue leather, seamlessly crafted over 106 hours, the delicate steel structure also celebrates both the skills of a craftsman and precision of anindustrialist.
