SOON AT THE REFUGIUM :: HETTLER.TÜLLMANN: PAPER PLANET FLOOR LAMP & ROPE CHAIR

The signature of HETTLER.TÜLLMANN is largely defined by the fact that with each new project the studio starts from a low environmental-impact material, and a search for elements that are recycled or easily recyclable. When creating Paper Planet, the studio worked with recycled paper rope and thin paper sheets. Once cut and folded, twirled and stacked, woven and knitted, paper attains structure, and this structural aspect of paper was at the core of this exploration. Thin paper layers turned into strong and resistant yet delicate ropes and long flat paper sheets became volume. While the Rope Chair highlights techniques of traditional wicker craftsmanship, the paper lamps were designed in the Origami tradition. Delicately folded edges pop-up and create structure. Lit from inside they are a source of both glowing light and dark shadow. With its weight of a mere. 3 kg, the Paper Floor Lamp measures 60 x 60 x 160 cm. 2012. hettler.tüllmann are Katja Hettler and Jula Tüllmannwww.hettlertullmann.com/
