SOON AT THE REFUGIUM :: ULI BUDDE: BALLOON

The idea that we often consider the moon to be a light source, although it is just enlightened by the sun, gave Budde stimulus to work with indirect light, when designing this table lamp that generates a diffused ambient. Its form partly refers to the typical antique oil lamps and candle holders, in which a reflector was placed behind the flame to reflect and direct the light. The light source is situated inside a cylindrical base. Light shines upwards and enlightens the reflector, which tilts forwards, re-directing and reflecting a diffused glimmer. Through its simplicity and figurative character, the lamp leaves room for fantasy and associations– is it a balloon soaring into the air or a small glowing sun? For Vertigo Bird. 280x425x135mm. 2011
