SOON AT THE REFUGIUM :: THOMAS SCHMITZ: POTSDAMER BOCK

While students of the d-SOAP ™

department of the Fachhochschule Potsdam co-curate the exhibition, and their Berlin in a Shoebox project smuggles the city into its premises, a trestle designed by a former FH Potsdam student, Thomas Schmitz, serves as one of the dominating elements of Refugium’s scenography. Designed in his student days, out of pure necessity and with what was at hand, very AD Hoc and simple, for using only five planks with slits that are hooked into each other, the Potsdamer Trestle or Bock is unique in that it doesn’t need a counterpart to function as a support. Very Berlin, anyone can make it, while its look doesn’t deny its origin, but remains honest and raw.
