SOON AT THE REFUGIUM :: STUDIO KAI LINKE: DEFORMATION IT WASN’T ME

The idea of deformation plays a central role in the work of Frankfurt based designer Kai Linke, as well as the aim to bring some more wildness in our over organized lives. Usually the deformation is not so much caused by human force or the designer himself –hence also the title of this work- as by in the force of the materials, which are offered the freedom to go their own way, be it within a mold. In this Limited Series the material was even offered the possibility to deform the mold. Made from malleable materials such as felt, these molds are filled with heavy liquid compounds. The wetness and weight of the compounds stress the outer form, transforming the original shape. Once solid the outer shell is removed, a seemingly deformed object remains – celebrating the beauty of imperfection. (mb) www.kailinke.com
